This presentation will include information regarding Ohio’s extraterritorial coverage and the potential coverage gaps an employer has when working outside the state. Additionally, Ms. Phillips will discuss the options an employer has to obtain coverage and provide details on BWC’s Other States Coverage Offering.
Julie Phillips is currently an Underwriting Consultant in the Other States Coverage Unit at the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. In her role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the unit, including educating employers about potential coverage gaps when sending employees outside Ohio to work, and assisting employers with obtaining and maintaining proper coverage. Julie joined BWC in 1993 and has worked in claims and actuarial positions, prior to joining the Other States Coverage Unit. She was a lost time claims supervisor for 20 years in the Cambridge Service Office. In the actuarial department, she worked on the Research and Statistics team. Julie earned a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics and business from Muskingum University.
