There are 83 Safety Councils currently operating in the state of Ohio.  This is the largest concentration of Councils that exist in any state in the entire country.  One contributing factor in the growth of Safety Councils in Ohio is the BWC’s Safety Council Rebate Program.  Organizations that participate in this Program are required to belong to a Safety Council.  The BWC believes that the partnership between the Bureau and local Safety Councils is an important element in reinforcing safety with Ohio employers.  We can help assist your organization with your health and safety needs.  We are a full-service agency that can provide the help you need whether it’s just a little or a lot.

Mr. Rabe will provide a little history about the origins of the organization and how it evolved into one of the oldest Safety Councils in the United States.  He will discuss the various training programs offered and how the Council can customize training to fit the needs of its clients.  He will explain how we work with the BMV and Juvenile Traffic Magistrates to provide remedial driving classes for both juveniles and adults. He will also discuss the requirements of the Safety Council Rebate Program.

Thomas Rabe became the Executive Vice President of the Greater Cleveland Safety Council in August of 2004.  Prior to coming to the Safety Council, he worked at the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority for 30 years.  He held several positions at GCRTA from operations to safety including Director of Safety. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cleveland State University and he served in the U.S. Air Force at Headquarters of USAFE in Germany.
