Eye protection is protective gear for the eyes, which comes in many types depending upon the threat that is to be reduced.  The threats can be particles, light, wind blast, heat, sea spray or some type of ball or puck used in sports.  OSHA Regulations stipulate that an employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation.

This class will cover:

·         OSHA Regulation 29 CFR 1910.133 - Eye and Face Protection; a regulation containing requirements for providing, using and maintaining eye and face PPE in a sanitary and reliable condition

·         Discuss ANZI Z87.1 - Eye Protection Standard

·         Using the appropriate eye protection for the hazard

·         Best practices to safeguard employees

·         Review of various types of eye protection

·         Need for employee input regarding PPE selection

This class will count as a meeting credit for the BWC’s Safety Council Rebate Program.
