There are 4 types of OSHA Compliance Inspections and each are conducted for different reasons. They are: (1) Complaint Inspection which occurs when an employee files a formal complaint with OSHA, (2) Fatality/Accident Inspection occurs after OSHA receives notice from an employer about a fatality or accident that results in the hospitalization of 3 or more employees, (3) Programed Inspection is an inspection conducted of randomly chosen workplaces determined to be engaged in particularly hazardous types of work according to their Standard Industry Classification (SIC) Codes, and (4) Imminent Danger Inspections which occur when OSHA receives a report that a condition of imminent danger exists at a workplace.
OSHA compliance is the law. OSHA Inspectors are the enforcers of that law. There is not much about an OSHA Inspection that’s fun, but you can make it a little less unpleasant. You can also make an inspection less likely, and you can make the aftermath of the inspection less painful. Join us as we discuss common-sense ways to accomplish all these objectives. Be prepared for that unannounced visitor!
